How many times you did this? I think at least one time when you was get frustrated with your hosting provider, am I right? Was it a easy job for you? Have you faced any downtime in your websites or in mail?  If YES then you’ll have to only do some planning, to moving your domain from previous hosting company to a new hosting company without any headache. I am just providing some very basic checklist to avoid the downtime for your website, that will be in steps as mention below:

• Purchase your new hosting slot from the new hosting company
• Set up your new hosting account for your web, mail and DB with the help of IP address
• Upload your web content through the help of the live IP address in your web (through FTP)
• Upload your DB through the help of the live IP address in your MSSQL or MYSQL (front end)
• Backup or download your all mail if you are using web interface for your email communication (if not using outlook)
• Also try to get the IP address for your email POP and SMTP, it will allow you to get your mail when the Name Server updating will be in progress.
• Now you are on with your complete hosting in new server
• If needed, transfer your domain
• Change your domain’s Name Servers from old to new one
• Once everything will be fine with your new hosting account, Cancel your old hosting account

The first step is to purchase new hosting space from any new hosting provider, try to evaluate that geographically both hosting provider should from one place not mandatory, that will help you to make your site live early as compare to others. Set up a new hosting account for your all services you are using with your current provider. Upload our all contents, take some help from your service provider in case of any problems. Make sure you upload all your files to the new site before making any changes on. These all steps will take few hours from your side.

The second step is to transfer your domain to a new registrar (If needed) and changing the Name Server records. I personally recomend if your registrar and your new hosting provider can help you in this matter. If you are going to change your registrar it will take couple of days to transfer the domain from one registrar to another, and if you are only changing the Name Server records for the domain will take 24 to 48 hours for complete redirection.

Last but not least, don’t forget to cancel your previous web hosting with your old web hosting provider otherwise it will cause some un proper behavior in your website.
